A major use for Soligen's DSPC is re-creating parts for which there are no patterns or files. For instance, suppose you have a 1949 Hudson and you just cracked your transmission bellhousing. With DSPC, you can create a new mold and a new part that will be just like the original (before machining, of course!). However, you DO need to get the part shape into our DSPC machine, and that means creating an STL or IGES file. The latest technique is to use Computer-Aided Tomography (also known as CAT-Scanning in its medical usage). One source for this service is ARACOR, located in Sunnyvale, CA. |
